I will be out there -- doing something. Going somewhere, taking pictures to the near murderous annoyance of my best friend, acting the part of the tourist and openly mocking Sarah who will be at home "studying for biology" with her boyfriend *cough, cough*. I'm planning on going to Winnipeg with Mel soon so I'm supposed to be saving up my money for the big trip (y'know-- so we don't end up stranded in a public washroom sleeping underneath the counter and dreading the arrival of the greasy night janitor at Burger King) However, this money-saving isn't going quite as satisfactorily (?) as I'd like -- when it comes to saving any amount of funds I generally suck. I'm Toni Braxton with a four hundred dollar of coffee, lamenting about my spending costs and recent bankruptcy. (Y'know: "I won't let my expenses get that out of hand next time"-- as she buys some new earrings and plans a trip across Europe. Thats me. Except on a lesser scale: think cheap, itchy-making necklace and a trip to Schreiber with enough money to buy Tostitos.)

I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to be going on this trip -- although part of me wants to go anyway. Screw the need for money, I'll live like a hippy on the streets of Winnipeg. But then I realize what I'm saying and have the urge to stroke a twenty dollar bill, and bask in my material goods.

Of course, if this rant on my money troubles weren't bad enough, I also have the blasted inconsistency of Pitas, which is making me want to buy out a coffee chain, pay first year tuition at several colleges and buy an entire new wardobe made of GOLD.

Ah, the lament of the impulse buyer.

Short list:
-$8.50 for laser tag.
-$13.00 for four cheese pizza at Boston Pizza.
-$13.00 for Willow. It was a masquerade. No, I did not buy a mask. Me and Tanya just stared at them and whined about the two dollars they cost. I wanted to get Annie Liebovitz's 'Women', but it was seventeen bucks and thus was promptly vetoed on account that I have next to know money and had to purchase some kind of hopefully interesting book for my OAC English Research Paper.

Anyways, I'll just go back later -- we have huge projects due in art and I'm, of course, planning on doing Photography, so I'm trying to get as many photography books as I can in order to experiment with different films and lighting, etc. Its going to be yummy. ;p

But I digress. I bought Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar. I started to read part of it whilst on vacation at the beach, and it seemed to be really -- eloquent, I guess. So I'm going to test it out for my research paper. Also, I bought two magazines -- Pacific Rim Weddings, and Canadian Gardening -- those are usually fairly expensive sources - but sources none the less - of good flower and plant clip art.

Finally, I bought Kate Forsyth's The Forbidden Land, a continuation of her 'The Witches Of Eileanan' series. A really excellent series, by the way, if you get a chance to read it.

I have pictures of the book covers, but I'll have to post them later -- my internet connection is being an absolute bitch.

I came back from the lovely, scary, seasonally-garbed Walmart about an hour ago.

I bought two pairs of earrings -- one set kind of like circular blue studs, and one set just silver metallic balls. Altogether it was about 10 bucks for those. I finally got my studs out -- I had the worst time disengaging them from my big ears. But before tonight I only had silver hoops, and I didn't really enjoy the idea of ears being ripped down the middle by some nasty midnight snag on a hoop.

I also bought the book The Vision by Dean Koontz. Bloody Internet politics. Grrr. *shakes fist angrily* Yes, Shaw Cable, I'm talking about you, you bastard collective. ARGH. At least I have it back though. So, uhm, yay :)

Anyway, I bought the various school mumbo jumbo since I last posted -- bags from Bentley, and some school stuff from Staples (oh, white out pens, how I love thee). Besides the shiny new binders and pencils and pens, I also bought the book 'Fun With Chinese Characters : The Straits Times Collection 3' on discount at Coles Bookstore.

I'll get the links and images up for these items post haste. Also, on a note of interest, Mel and I made a no-fast food for a month pact. So if you see me list it here, please give me an online giant pointy kick, ok? Or if you know me in person, just come visit me and beat the living crap outta me. Thanks. ;p

I bought the Labyrinth starring the frightening, tighted David Bowie at HMV for $9.99. Its one of my FMOAT (Favourite Movies of All Time).. not because of the tights, but cos of those loverly muppets, etc. However, when I was younger, I used to wish 1) David Bowie was a little bit younger & better looking, 2) They didn't have those silly, terrifying pink things that tried to remove Sarah's head, and 3) Well, there isn't a three I guess. :) La pelicula es muy excelente tho. (Yes, I do know that I have just destroyed, butchered and annihilated the spanish language).

<img src="http://virtue.nu/solarium/broke/labyrinthbowie.jpg" border=1 alt="The Labyrinth, VHS, starring David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly.. It worked!

Okay, what is Broke? Its kind of a listing of all the stuff I spend my money on. I don't really have a job, per se, (although I will be getting one as soon as some loverly person chances upon my resume) but I do sometimes have cash, and when I have cash, I tend to spend it rather frivolously. Mostly on movies and junkfood, and occassionally books. Anyway, this blog is for all that charming impulse buys I purchase. This might even help me manage my money a little better (insert sarcastic snort here). Along with the purchased item, I sometimes might show something I did with it, write about how yummy and fattening it was, how good/bad it was, or sum up why I bought it. So far, this is just an experiment, and I'm not really sure how it will turn out at all. If I prove to buy mostly really nice, really practical things, my parents may even consider paying for my car insurance, so that their beautiful, spend-thrifty daughter who doesn't have a job doesn't have to, resulting in the wonderful conclusion that said daughter, because she lacks the funds for her car insurance (because she spent 10 dollars at McDonalds aka McDicks the night previous, and the night previous before previous, and the night previous before previous before the previous night) doesn't get to drive the car until she's 35 years of age and has morphed into a scary bus person, who continually both smells and/or stares freakily at the other non-regular bus passengers. So, I'm betting on this being a good thing. :)

I'm hoping, hoping, HOPING this'll work.
